Juice Beauty was one of the first brands that Meg and I stumbled upon when we started converting to the clean side. Once we've looked into the products we've noticed some lurking ingredients that we are not so fond of. BUT if you want to do a peel then this is a much better way to go. Meg got this with one of her many online Christmas shopping sprees and I was lucky enough to be on the receiving end. So start with a clean face then apply the peel for 15 minutes and then the moisturizer. While I waited for the peel to do its thing I couldn't stop feeling my face! It puts a layer on your face that is very smooth and silky to the touch. It doesn't feel like a purifying mask where it pulls and cracks on your face, but instead does its job by smoothing fine lines and boosting cell turnover. The smell of both products is very apple-ly, and when I licked my lips I caught a little taste of the peel and I had to stop myself from licking more off! I guarantee there is no peel out there that tastes so good! Okay back to the product review.... My face felt very soft when I took the peel off and the moisturizer made it feel even better. The next morning my face always looks great and feels extra smooth. I don't know that I would purchase these at $45 a pop but I'm loving the samples!
Follow us as we clean out our beauty products from the yucky products we all love so much, to the clean natural products that are actually good for us. But don't worry we have VERY high standards, we don't plan on leaving our beloved products behind for just any replacement...

Product Review: John Master's Organics Lavender and Avocado Intensive Conditioner
By: Meg
Cost:~ 20.00
So yesterday, Megan and I got fabulous hair cuts and color (more on that later) from Salon Valin in Modesto. In honor of our new hair looks I'm reviewing my new conditioner obsession: John Masters Lavender and Avocado Intensive Conditioner. My hair is a conditioner challenge because the ends are very dry since I use heat styling every day BUT the top of my head is not dry. If I over-moisturize the top of my head, my hair gets HEAVY and lacks volume. I needed a conditioner that would let my ends soak up tons of moisture, but give volume to my roots.
I have found just that with the Lavender and Avocado Conditioner. This stuff is hair MAGIC! It is packed with oils that are great for your hair along with herbs and other conditioners.
I put it all over my hair from root to ends and let it seep in for about three minutes after I have shampooed. The smell is a wonderful, but not overpowering, Lavender. When I rinse it out my hair already feels pretty great and very smooth. I usually do follow that up with my detangler since my hair gets a little tangled at work but you could skip that if you have shorter or super manageable hair. The thing I love the most about this is that it doesn't weigh my hair down one bit, even with ALL that moisture. I actually think my hair has more volume than it did when I was using a (dirty) Volumizing shampoo and conditioner. The price varies depending on where you get it. I got mine at an organic foods market for about 19.00. I know to you Suave and Pantene users, that seems like a lot (just think of how much Suave you could get for that...like a whole year's worth). When it comes to your hair ladies, you can't skimp on quality. It's so easy to damage your hair and not so easy to fix. Your hair is one of the fist things people see, so make sure it looks it's best!

Product Review: DeVita Aloe Vera Moisture Cleanser
By: Meg
Cost: 19.00
It's always a shame to be disappointed by something you are sure is going to be awesome. unfortunately, that is what happened when I bought DeVita Aloe Vera Moisture cleanser.
I was so excited to try out their products. They contain some really great ingredients without a single filler. Everything looks very natural and good for you. The packaging on their line is so cute! Their items come in lovely dark purple bottles with a vine design winding up the side. The line is very pricey, but I thought I would be getting something really great so i didn't mind forking over some dough for it.
I just couldn't wait to wash my face with it.....but then the disappointment. I immediately disliked the smell. It has a very old lady smell to it (roses and I'm not sure what else). The feel of the cleanser was very close to that of standard drug store cleansers. It even foamed up just a bit which these days concerns me a little. The first time I used it I developed a small breakout overnight. I chalked it up to the sudden change of product, or a hormone culprit. The breakout didn't really go away though, it spread. I toughed out using this for about a week and a half with no better result and decided to give up on it.
Now I hate to waste beauty product and since Megan and I have had very different reactions to many of the products we have used, I decided to hand it off to her. I hoped she would have a more desirable result. She did not unfortunately. Megan also disliked the smell and the feeling of the foam. She said that it did not make her skin "glow" like other products had, it left her looking flat.
The fact that both of us had issues with this doesn't really look good for this product. It's to bad because we had such high hopes.
now we have not tried any other DeVita products, and many of them look like they might be really great. Since they are so expensive though, it's hard for me to convince myself to give another product a try and possibly dislike it as well.
In short we'll be filing this under "do not recommend."

Weekend Special: Introduction to Our Resident Expert, The Fabulous Emily!
Hello Beautiful People! I am Emily, the quirky friend of the Megs that has been living on the east coast for several years trying to get my PhD in Microbiology and feel very active in the “science so everyone can understand it” movement. I have finished the research portion of the work and am onto writing! Yay! Translation – mounds of time to get bored and surf the cosmos. Current interests include but not limited to: Job Hunting in the San Fran area, Tiny House design and living, go to stay green but chic, etc. I would like to be good to the environment so it is good to me!
Things I would like to chat with you all about –
Hair care - I have a thick mane that has grown to love my Chi. Something tells me though 150 degrees isn’t all that great for your hair or that scalp!
Makeup – So don’t get mad, but I’m one of those people that washes their face once a day with water only in the shower and has remained problem free. *Knocking on wood* But I do like to sparkle… it distracts people from my freckles, so my latest interests are –
Eye shadow – W3ll People’s Elitist Shimer Mineral Shadow
Skin care – I do have practically ghostly skin, the ladies at the nail place like to tell me I need a tan. As I learn to embrace the white, let’s explore the moisturizers and sunscreens!
Feet care – My favorite body part is my feet… hence the small yet significant shoe addiction, so I am in constantly search for sparkly nail polish (I have four Zoya spoons coming anyday!) and moisturizers for summer. Those flip flops can be brutal. I don’t think I’m ready to give up my pedis but let’s figure out if there are areas, creams, techniques we can avoid that won’t be good for us.
I believe in using pictures as well as words to convey messages, so let me leave you with this until our next chat!
Can we enjoy all our pleasures in the least harmful way? I think so!
